Distraction-Free Electronics Policy

EMNRBS recognizes the importance of communication and collaboration and provides devices (Google Chromebooks) for students to be productive in the classroom. To keep the focus on academics and to reduce unnecessary distractions, the school enforces the following:

  • Cell phones will be collected at the beginning of each day by security personnel upon students entering the building.

  • Cell phone will be locked in a safe lock box throughout the school day

  • At the end of the school day, students will line up in the gym, where their cell phones will be returned to them.

    • Students that have to serve overtime will receive their phones after they are dismissed.

  • If a student needs to contact a parent/guardian or needs to make an emergency call at any time during the school day, they can use the main office school phone.

  • Any student who does not give in their cell phone at the beginning of the day will be subject to further disciplinary action.

  • After a student's second offense of being found in possession of a cell phone, a parent or guardian must come in to retrieve the device.

EMNRBS believes this policy will help students focus more academically as well as have more positive social interactions.
